Dickens did in fact visit York. Although the Festival Concert Rooms in which Dickens gave a public reading in 1858 no longer exist, our conference dinner will take us to the eighteenth-century Assembly Rooms, one of the earliest Palladian buildings in Northern England, to which they were connected. The building is now the most impressive ASK Italian venue in the country.
Recently voted as the city most UK residents would want to live in, York also regularly tops lists of most beautiful UK cities. In December, York transforms as it welcomes its annual Christmas market, with stalls, music and mulled wine. Take the opportunity to visit York Minster, Clifford’s Tower, the newly-restored Art Gallery and York’s famous cobbled streets.
